How non-invasive facelifts work

Non-invasive facelifts have gained momentous popularity in recent years. This is mostly down to the fact that non-invasive (or non-surgical) facelifts do not involve going under the knife, are conducted with little pain and can even be fitted into your lunch break! Gone are the days of having to stay at home for weeks whilst recovering from a neck lift or facelift – now you can enjoy all the benefits of having a skin-enhancing procedure without the long recovery times.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported that in 2016, out of 17.1 million cosmetic procedures being performed in the USA, over 15.4 million were minimally invasive or non-invasive. A non-invasive facelift can include many different types of treatment.

How do non-surgical fillers work?

One of the most popular treatments to combat the signs of ageing is the use of non-surgical fillers. Fillers are injected into the face and neck to restore lost volume due to ageing. The beauty of non-invasive fillers is that they can be used in many locations on the face and body, and are relatively painless

Ultheraphy and Thermage

Advanced procedures are available which provide even more dramatic results, similar to either a face or neck lift, but without involving surgery. A combination of ultrasound, laser and radiofrequency energy is often used to target and tighten skin below the surface layer. Ultheraphy and Thermage are two of the most popular treatments of this kind, and they involve heating the deeper layers of the skin. These treatments promote tissue contraction and also stimulate increased collagen production during the healing process, which ultimately tightens the underlying tissues of the skin.

Ultrasound and ultrasonic therapy

Ultrasound or ultrasonic therapy can be used on the face or neck, and unlike laser and radiofrequency, the process is even less invasive. This type of treatment can bypass the superficial layers of skin: focusing on deeper skin tissue where elastin and collagen are produced.

Non-invasive face and neck lifts, including those which use ultrasound or radiofrequency energy, can be performed in one go, or across multiple sessions. The benefit of having the procedure over several sessions, rather than all in one go, is that it will be considerably less painful, and the skin will have time to adjust to the changes more gradually: thus minimising the amount of redness.

Producing fantastic results, these non-surgical procedures help reduce signs of ageing in affordable and relatively painless ways. Requiring minimal downtime, non-invasive facelifts are a modern, low-pain alternative to going under the knife.
